Naturalised through accidental introduction in dried fruit in warehouses in London since about 1921. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 21-32 mm. Female similar to
Bee Moth Aphomia sociella (broader forewings) and
Melissoblaptes zelleri (smaller discal spot). Larva feeds on dried fruit, nuts and various dried goods, causing sufficient damage to be a serious pest in some areas.
