Locally common, in flower meadows, farmland, scrub and woodland clearings throughout much of mainland Europe and Fennoscandia. In Britain, formerly widespread in southern England, but not seen reliably since the end of the 19th Century. Wingspan 28-34 mm. Larva feeds on Red Clover.
