Formerly known only from East Anglia, but in recent years numbers have increased with individuals reported from a number of counties in the south and east of the country, principally attracted to pheromone lures, principally that for
funebrana. However two, new for Hampshire, were taken at MOL (molesta) in Romsey in April that year. Wingspan 11-13 mm. Similar to obscurely marked forms of
P. albuginana, and requires dissection to separate from
obscurana and
albuginana. Larva feeds within bark of Ash.
