Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in downland and scrub in parts of southern England, a priority species under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 9-12 mm. Distinguished from
C. internana by the browner general appearance of the forewing coloration, the more strongly contrasting costal markings and dorsal blotch and the uninterrupted subbasal line in the cilia. The hindwing of the male of Cydia pallifrontana is extensively infuscate [Bradley]. Larva feeds within seedpods of Wild Liquorice, over-wintering in a cocoon.
