Recorded infrequently through importation of jumping beans from Mexico, where resident in dry, arid areas; these contain the larva from which adult moths occasionally develop and emerge. In Hampshire recorded for the first time at Southsea on 8 September 1990. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 19-23 mm. Larva feeds within seed capsules of Sebastiana pavoniana; no evidence of breeding in the UK.
