The first British individual was netted in Clowes Wood, Kent on 1 May 2011 by Francis Solly (Atropos 45). The larvae feed in the twigs and cones of conifers, overwintering as a larva, and it may have originated from a nearby mixed plantation. Like a number of other micro-lepidoptera that have turned up in the British Isles in recent years, it has shown recent range expansion through northern Europe. Somewhat similar to Retinia resinella, and any claimed records of this species should be accompanied by a specimen.
