Nationally scarce (Na) in saltmarshes in England, from Sussex to Lincolnshire. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 13-17 mm. Reminiscent of
E. pupillana in its whitish general appearance but distinguished by the comparatively poorly defined fasciate markings of the forewing and the weak ocellus [Bradley]. Larva feeds on flowers of Sea Wormwood, over-wintering in a cocoon.
