Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in scrub and birch woodland in parts of eastern Scotland. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 11-15 mm. The strongly falcate forewing and its grey general appearance and prominent, contrasting greyish white ocellar patch distinguish A. tineana from other Ancylid species [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Aspen, living within a spun or rolled leaf, over-wintering as a small larva.
