Local on chalk downland and limestone cliffs throughout much of England. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight locally common on chalk downland throughout, most notable on Broughton Down, Silchester Common and Old Winchester Hill. Wingspan 11-14 mm. Similar in size to
A. obtusana, but differs in the dull brown general coloration of the forewing and the acutely angled apex [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Salad Burnet, Wild Strawberry, Cinquefoil and Wild Thyme, living within a spun or rolled leaf, and over-wintering either as a pupa or full-grown larva.
