Extinct in the British Isles, formerly in marshes, river-banks and damp areas in parts of Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 12-14 mm. Superficially similar to C. cespitana, but smaller and lacks the whitish discal spot usually present in that species; the two species are allopatric, C. cespitana inhabiting mainly coastal districts [Bradley]. Larva unknown in Britain, on the continent has been recorded on Galingale.
