Hantsmoths

Local in woodland, heaths and dry pastures throughout much of the British Isles, mainly a northern species, known from just a few sites in the south. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 14-17 mm. The smallest species of the genus, its conspicuous black postmedian spot and the pink tinge of the forewing ground colour are characteristic [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Bog-myrtle, Sallow and Birch, living within a spun or rolled leaf, over-wintering as a pupa.
