Nationally scarce (Na) on dry pastures, waste ground and sand-dunes in parts of southern England. In Hampshire recorded in recent years from Chilbolton, Chandlers Ford, Noar Hill and Black Wood, Micheldever. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight since 1900. Wingspan 9-13 mm. Usually smaller than
C. implicitana, lacking the pink flush to the forewing and further distinguished by the relatively broad median fascia and the barred cilia [Bradley]. Larva feeds on flowers of Blue Fleabane, over-wintering in a cocoon.
