Common in oak woodland, woodland, parks, gardens and areas with scattered trees throughout much of the British Isles. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight can be abundant in oak woods, though prone to annual fluctuations, with larvae forming the staple diet for insectivorous birds and their young, but such abundance appears to becoming rarer. Wingspan 17-24 mm. This species is unique amongst the British Tortricids in having a light green, almost unicolorous forewing [Bradley].
