Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in garden plants from Africa. Several instances have occurred in recent years of larvae being intercepted at Heathrow Airport, London on carnations imported from East Africa, but most records relate to larvae found on cut flowers purchased in supermarkets. In Hampshire an adult was bred from a larva found on apples from South Africa purchased from a supermarket in Winchester in May 1990. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 17-20 mm. Larva feeds on various herbaceous plants, living between leaves spun together with silk.
