Common in woodland and gardens throughout the British Isles. In Hampshire fairly common to common in suitable habitat, with rather few recent records from the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 18-24 mm. Similar to
Barred Fruit-tree Tortrix P. cerasana, but distinguished by the characteristic reticulate forewing pattern and the more strongly oblique outer margin of the basal fasciae, which are parallel with the median fascia, and the paler apex of the hindwing [Bradley]. Larva polyphagous on a variety of deciduous trees and shrubs, living within a spun or rolled leaf.
