Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in dry sandy and gravelly areas and farmland in parts of south-eastern England. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 9-11 mm. Dark examples very similar to
S. potentillella, from which separated only by dissection of the genitalia. Larva feeds on Annual Knawel and Perennial Knawel, living within a silken tube or tent.
