Nationally scarce (Nb) on chalk downland and limestone downland in England, where more common in the south. In Hampshire recorded in the past from Leckford and Beacon Hill, Exton. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 9-11.5 mm. Day-flying, especially the males, in sunshine. Larva feeds on Common Rock-rose, living within a silken tube or tent.
