Originally a North American species, recorded in Britain for the first time in 1952, the species is now established very locally. First recorded in Hampshire at Winchester on 10 July 1983, with a second at the same site almost exactly a year later, but no further indications that the species is established in the county. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 10-12 mm. Larva mines needles of Norway Spruce and Sitka Spruce.
