Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in coniferous woodland and plantations in south-eastern England. Originally a North American species, which was recorded in Britain for the first time in 1952, the species is now established very locally. First recorded in Hampshire at Winchester on 10 July 1983, with a second at the same site a year later, but no further indications that the species is established in the county. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 10-12 mm. Larva mines needles of Norway Spruce and Sitka Spruce.
