The distribution of this rare species (see
here) is imperfectly known due to confusion (covering both nomenclature and misidentification) with
C. huebneri but known records are scattered across the Midlands and north of England, mainly in wooded areas. Unrecorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 12-15 mm. The most likely confusion species are
C. blandelloides and
C. huebneri, which see for differences. Larva mines leaves of Greater Stitchwort and Bog Stitchwort, subsequently living within a spinning.
