The only known British records are from Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, where two specimens from 1882 were retrospectively identified in the BMNH in 1986 (see Sattler, 1987: Proc. Trans. Brit.Ent. Nat. Hist. Soc. 20:53) , but the species has not been found in subsequent searches of the area. Not recorded in Hampshire. Wingspan 14-16 mm. Confused in the past with
S. samadensis and
S. instabilella, which see. Larva feeds within stems of Sea Arrowgrass.
