Nationally scarce (Na) on heathland and downland in parts of southern England, with records north to Lancashire. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight formerly known from several localities in all three vice-counties, but in recent years only from Botley Wood, Need Ore and Portsmouth / Hayling Island, all in the south of the county. Wingspan 12-17 mm. Larva feeds on Dyer's Greenweed, living between shoots spun together with silk.
