Extinct in the British Isles, formerly widespread in hedgerows and scrubland in south-eastern England, but not recorded there since 1933 when one was at Chiddingfold, Surrey. Recorded from Jones' Enclosure in the New Forest, Hampshire in 1850, but rare then and not seen since. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 21-22 mm. Larva feeds on Blackthorn, living within a spun or rolled leaf, over-wintering as a pupa.
