Extinct in the British Isles, formerly widespread throughout most of England, with the last confirmed record being from Oxfordshire in 1924. The only reference to this species being present in our area is from the mid 1800s, where it was said to be present in the Sandown area: this was deemed by Goater in 2001 to being unconfirmed. Larva feeds on flowers and seedheads of Hogweed, Wild Parsnip and Wild Angelica.
