Hantsmoths

Naturalised, through accidental introduction, in parks and gardens in south-eastern England. First recorded on Parliament Hill, North London in 2003, subsequently in Chelsea Physic Garden, West London in 2005, with several more in 2006 and 2007, all in London, except for one which was recorded in Kent; three were taken at light in Wimbledon, London in 2007. Double-figure numbers are known from some sites, so it is presumed to be now established having been introduced, but its origins are a mystery. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 13-15 mm. Larva thought to feed on leaves of Olive, Jasmine, Privet and Ash, amongst others.
