Local in gardens and allotments throughout much of south-eastern England, with records west to Devon, predominantly coastal. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight fairly numerous in and around Portsmouth, Havant and Southampton, with occasional records in the north of the county and on the Island. Wingspan 11-14 mm. Larva feeds within stems and roots of Leek, Onion and Chives, causing sufficient damage to be a serious pest in some areas.
