Recorded once in Britain: in floor-sweepings in a mill at Bootle, Lancashire in January 1943. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 20-30 mm. A large species; the forewings are glossy, grey-brown, with a speckled darker pattern. Uncharacteristically for a tineid (but like Setomorpha rutellaSetomorpha rutella), the scales of the head are directed forward over the vertex and down the frons, giving it the superficial appearance of an oecophorid (MBGBI Vol 2). Larva feeds on detritus.
