Extinct in the British Isles, formerly in outhouses throughout much of England, but not seen in Britain for over 50 years. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 7-11 mm. A narrow-winged species of distinct appearance, no other British tineid being marked in this fashion, although there is much variation in the extent of the dark markings (MBGBI Vol 2). Larva feeds on detritus, living within a movable case.
