Nationally scarce (Na) in dry pastures and on waste ground in parts of southern and eastern England, north to Lancashire, a priority species under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. Recorded once in Hampshire, at Magdalen Hill Down in 2015. Wingspan 13-16 mm. Combination of bronze forewing with purple median fascia is unique amongst the Adelinae. Larva feeds on seeds of Black Horehound, subsequently feeding in the fallen leaves, living within a movable case.
