Status and distribution insufficiently known. Trapped in Britain for the first time in Buckinghamshire on 12 July 2009, possibly overlooked in the past. Not reliably recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date, but the mines in the bark of Oak are indistinguishable from E. atrifrontella and it would be necessary to rear the imagos through for confirmation.
