Very rare immigrant (less than 10 previous UK records) from southern Europe, appearing occasionally on the south and east coast of Britain, often among influxes of Bordered Straw H. peltigera, with three occurrences to the end of 2008 in Hampshire and one on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 38-42 mm. Larva feeds on Honeysuckle, Tomato and other herbaceous plants; an unprecedented 16 were recorded nationally in 2006, some of which may have been the progeny of earlier arrivals.
