Local in fens, marshes, river-banks and upland grassland throughout much of northern England and southern Scotland. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 34-36 mm. The most likely confusion species is Gold Spot P. festucae, which see for differences. Larva feeds on Wood Small-reed, Purple Small-reed and Yorkshire-fog.
