Nationally scarce (Nb) in bogs, moorland, damp heathland, fens, water meadows and marshes, from western England, through west Wales, to the Moray Firth in Scotland. In Hampshire locally abundant in bogs in the New Forest, quite scarce elsewhere with only a handful of records for the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 15-18 mm. Due to small size, may be over-looked as an unidentified species of micromoth. Larva feeds on Cross-leaved Heath and Marsh Cinquefoil.
