Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in oak from North America. A larva was imported in 1969 with American Oak from the USA and an adult was found by a light in Aberdeen docks in 1994 a few days after a shipment of crates was received from the USA, with no further records to date. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 82-88 mm. Frequents container ports, timber merchants and new housing estates. Larva feeds on Oak; no evidence of breeding in the UK.
