One was caught, new to Britain, on the evening of 09/11/2015 in London (at the time of a large influx of southern European and African migrant insects), with further reports in 2017 and 2019, coinciding with arrivals of other immigrant species: 2022 saw the first record for Hampshire. The increased sightings probably correlate with it undergoing north-westward range expansion in continental Europe.
The moth has an Afro-Tropical distribution, and is known from the western parts of the Palaearctic ecozone and the Neotropics. It is a rare migrant in western, central and northern Europe. In the Mediterranean, it is widespread and often abundant. In the Levant, it has been recorded from Lebanon, Jordan and Israel. Adults are on wing year round. There are multiple generations per year.
The larvae feed on Parietaria and Urtica species.
