Naturalised through accidental introduction in garden plants, in gardens, parks and plantations throughout much of southern England. First recorded in Britain in Cornwall in 1959. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight following the first record in the county in 1965, this species began to establish itself on the Isle of Wight and along the mainland coast from 1973. It is now quite common and has spread inland at least as far as Basingstoke. Wingspan 18-22 mm. Unmistakable. Larva feeds on Monterey Cypress, Leyland Cypress and Lawson's Cypress.
