Common in parks, gardens, hedgerows, scrub and woodland throughout the British Isles. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight fairly common throughout, appearing to favour Hemp-agrimony and Clematis. Wingspan 14-19 mm. Unmistakable, but green may fade to yellow. Larva feeds on flowers of many different plants, including Dog-rose, Hawthorn, Hemp-agrimony, Clematis, Hawthorn, Bramble, Elder, Wild Angelica, Mugwort and Goldenrod, over-wintering as a pupa.
