Nationally scarce (Nb) in woodland and hedgerows, in western England and Wales. In Hampshire the two specimens which turned up in 1974, one at Minstead in vice-county 11 and one at Crawley in vice-county 12, remain the only records in the county. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 24-28 mm. Unmistakable. Larva feeds on Wych Elm, over-wintering as a pupa.
