Common in open woodland, hedgerows, gardens and scrub throughout the British Isles. Widespread and common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 30-34 mm. The deeply projecting outer cross-band separates Streamer from all similar species. Larva feeds on Dog Rose and other species of wild rose, over-wintering as a pupa.
