Nationally scarce (Nb) on sandy heathland in Breckland, chalk downland in southern England, and sand-dunes at various points along the coasts of England and Wales. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight still occurs on the dunes at Hayling Island, with occasional records from the chalk, particularly on Broughton Down. Wingspan 22-25 mm. Most likely to be confused with
Oblique Carpet Orthonama vittata, but that species has streak from apex of forewing to about half-way along termen. Larva feeds on Lady's Bedstraw, over-wintering as a pupa.
