Nationally scarce (Na) on moorland in parts of northern England and Scotland. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 21-28 mm. More strongly and simply marked than other species of
Crambus, and most like
C. pratella which has, however, a rather strongly produced apical triangle and median longitudinal streak with conspicuous notch or hook half-way along dorsal margin [Goater]. Larva feeds on various grasses.
