Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on damp heathland, mosses and bogs, in Surrey, Hampshire, Dorset, Norfolk and south-west Ireland. In Hampshire locally common in bogs in the New Forest, very local and occasional elsewhere; the first and so far only sighting on the Island was in 2015. Wingspan 22-26 mm. Most like C. pascuella, from which distinguished by the median streak extending beyond subterminal line [Goater]. Larva feeds on Sedge.
