A vulnerable Red Data Book species in reed-beds at Chippenham Fen and Wicken Fen in Cambridgeshire and at Bure Marsh and Hickling Broad in the Norfolk Broads, with a small and declining population in Dorset, a species of conservation concern under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. In Hampshire recorded once, at Axmansford on 2 July 2010, the likely origin being from reed used for thatching: a house two doors away being re-thatched using reed imported from Poland. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan male 30-42 mm, female 38-56 mm. Larva feeds within stems of Common Reed, over-wintering twice.
