Hantsmoths

Local on the Channel Islands. Recorded for the first time in the British Isles on Jersey, where first discovered in August 2007. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Like the other Agdistis species, the fore- and hind-wings are not divided and the wings are held forward with front of body raised on long forelegs. Once set, it can be seen that there are two main lines of dots, one along the leading edge, and the other along the trailing edge of the forewing. A single dark grey area is present on the tornus of the forewing, which may set this moth apart from A. bennetii but not A. meridionalis. Larva feeds on Tamarisk.
