Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in damp woodland, formerly known from Derbyshire, North Lancashire and Kent, but recently recorded only from Herefordshire. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 8-9 mm. Very similar to
E. obliquella, but margins of the transverse white fascia rather ill-defined in
E. obliquella, fascia bounded on both sides by blackish suffusion in
E. cingillella. Larva mines leaves of Wood Millet.
