Nationally scarce (Nb) in woodland edges and clearings throughout much of the British Isles, more numerous in the south. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight there are recent records only from Botley Wood and Micheldever. Wingspan 8-10 mm. The dorsal suffusion of the forewing with ochreous-yellow and dark-tipped scales is characteristic (MBGBI Vol 3). Larva mines leaves of False-brome.
