Rare in mountains and on limestone pavements in the central highlands of Scotland around Braemar and on the Burren in Ireland. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 11-13 mm. Larva feeds on seeds of Mountain Everlasting, living within a movable case.
