Nationally scarce (Nb) in woodland and open moorland in parts of south-western England, the west Midlands, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 9-14 mm. Larva feeds on flowers and seeds of Great Wood-rush, living within a movable case, over-wintering twice.
