Extinct in the British Isles, formerly in open beech woodland on calcareous soil in Oxfordshire, where known only from Nettlebed, but not seen since 1930. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 9.5-11 mm. Larva feeds on seeds of Hairy Wood-rush, living within a movable case.
