A rare species of hedgerows and scrubland in parts of south-eastern England. In Hampshire recorded reliably for the first time at Gutner Point, Hayling in 2015, and it has only been found on the Isle of Wight once, on 18 September 1977. Wingspan 9-10 mm. Adults are very similar externally to
C. badiipennella and
C. trigeminella and identification therefore relies on breeding through from mines, or by dissection of the genitalia. Larva mines leaves of Blackthorn, living and feeding within a movable case; case length 6-7 mm.
