Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on sandy coasts from Anglesey to Cumbria and also in Ireland, southern Wales and on Coll. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. but unconfirmed reports from the sandy heaths of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire suggest that it could be more widespread than currently thought (MBGBI Vol 4 part 2). Wingspan 11-13 mm. An extremely dark gelechiid, almost wholly lacking in field marks. Larva feeds on Creeping Willow, living between leaves and shoots spun together with silk.
